- MTA Pulp Capping: In cases where decay is very close to the tooth’s nerve, we may use MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate) for pulp capping. This advanced technique helps to protect the pulp and encourage the tooth’s natural healing process, often preventing the need for more extensive treatment.
- Lime-Lite Liner: For added protection and to promote healing, we often use a Lime-Lite liner under our fillings. This material releases fluoride and calcium, further strengthening the tooth structure.

When are Crowns Needed?
- Larger Cavities: Usually, larger cavities that have weakened a significant portion of the tooth structure will require a crown for optimal support and longevity.
- Post-Pulpotomy (Baby Root Canal): Almost all teeth with larger cavities that have undergone a pulpotomy (a “baby root canal” to treat an infected pulp) will need some sort of full coverage crown to protect the weakened tooth and prevent further issues.
